TRAVIS JOHNSON OBE, BH(M), JP (1944 – 2008)

Born in Watermount, Jamaica, Travis came to the UK in 1962 and worked as a bus driver and for the railways in Leeds. He was a founding member of Jamaica Society Leeds and of Community Action & Support Against Crime. An advocate for equality, he was a race relations officer for over 20 years and the city’s first Jamaican Justice of the Peace. Committed to Leeds and Jamaica, he received an OBE in 1999 and a Badge of Honour (BH[M]) from the Government of Jamaica.
