MARTHA AGATHA ARMSTRONG nee STEPHENS (1897 – 1979)
In 1964 Agatha left St Elizabeth, Jamaica to join her son and daughter in Leeds. Known as ‘Grandma’ and ‘Mother Armstrong’, she ran children’s lessons in Jamaican folk culture. Helping to preserve and protect Jamaican culture and heritage is her legacy today.
