LINNETT MARIA MORGAN (1925 – 2018)
Before coming to the UK in 1957, Westmoreland, Jamaica-born Linnett owned a dressmaking business and taught sewing in the capital Kingston. Settling first in Sheffield the entrepreneurial mother of two ran a grocery store with home delivery service. After returning to Jamaica and time in Gloucester the family settled in Leeds where Linnett worked in catering and textiles. From 1996 she raised her grandson after her daughter died. Linnett is remembered as a caring, ambitious and creative woman.
