We’re on the hunt!
Bring your photos of the Windrush generation of Leeds
We are asking for individuals and families of the Windrush generation from all Caribbean islands who came to the UK and settled in Leeds from 1940s-1970 to share their photographs with us. These photos will be part of a citywide Windrush Day project that will be featured on billboards across the city.
The Jamaica Society Leeds in partnership with The St Kitts & Nevis Association Leeds are delivering the project, “Here: Windrush 75 Leeds” which is a series of public installations across Leeds featuring larger than life portraits of the Windrush generation of Leeds to celebrate and raise awareness of the contribution of the Caribbean people to the social and economic life of the city.
Please bring your photos and a short bio about yourself or your family member along to our collection event on:
DATE: SATURDAY 3rd June 2023
TIME: 12:00pm and 4pm
AT: Jamaica House, 277 Chapeltown Road, Leeds LS7 3HA
If you have any questions, telephone: 070508161092 or email us at: rsvp@jamaicasocietyleeds.co.uk
Your photos will be scanned and returned to you. Come out and support 75 years since the arrival of the Windrush generation.
