Join Jamaica Society Leeds for an afternoon of music, culture, heritage and community as we celebrate 78 years of the Windrush legacy.

Our annual Windrush Cultural Celebrations Day brings together artists, musicians and performers whose work reflects the rich cultural traditions that the Windrush Generation brought to Britain and the vibrant legacy that continues today.

Live Performances

Enjoy an exciting programme hosted by renowned poet and literary activist, Dr Khadijah Ibrahiim featuring:

• Sistah Joyce – Caribbean reggae and calypso singer
• Omari Swanson-Jeffers – Leeds-born multidisciplinary artist
• Carmen Brown – Teen sensation and powerful vocalist
• Caribbean Steel Band featuring Melvin Zakers and Emmanuel John
• Jamila Falak – Award winning Jamaican multi-instrumentalist and vocalist playing the Double Bass
• Plus more cultural performances throughout the afternoon

Three The Hard Way Sound System Clash

Experience the soundtrack of Black British life through an unforgettable clash of three generations of deejays.

From mento, calypso, ska and rocksteady through to reggae, soca, lovers rock, dancehall, UK garage, grime and more, this unique musical journey celebrates the sounds that have shaped generations.  This is the story of a community told through basslines, riddims and the selectors who carried the culture forward.

Celebrating what the Windrush Generation carried with them – and what today’s generations continue to carry forward.
