CEBERT MCKENZIE (c. 1918 – 2007)
The talented shoemaker arrived in Leeds from Christiana, Jamaica in 1959. Cebert soon realised that Britain’s promised opportunities did not include building his own shoemaking business. His time in Leeds was short lived and after four years he migrated to Panama. Cebert spent the rest of his life in Panama – where he fulfilled his dream of running his own shoemaking business.
